Go To Bolognese

Go To Bolognese

I feel bolognese is a staple food for kids all over the world. It's easy, you can make it in huge batches and freeze it, and you can put all sorts of veggies in. Here is our version of bolognese.

Recipe

Go To Bolognese

  • 1 tbs Olive oil

  • 1 Onion (grated)

  • 1 Carrot (grated)

  • 1 Zucchini (grated)

  • 500g Mince Meat

  • 2 tbs Tomato paste

  • 1 x 400g Tinned Tomatos

  • 500ml Veg Stock

  • 1 tsp Mixed Herbs

  • 1 tbs Butter

Directions

  1. Saute' the onion in olive oil for about 3 minute, then add the carrot and zucchini.

  2. Once the veggies have softened, add the mince and cook for about 5 minutes breaking it up nicely.

  3. Mix in the tomato paste, then add the tinned tomatoes, stock and mixed herbs. Give it a good mix and bring to boil.

  4. Then take the heat down a little and simmer for 25 minutes or so (till the mince is cooked through and has a golden red colour)

  5. Add extra boiled water if needed.

  6. Add the butter and mix in.

Optional

  1. Blend to desired consistency using a hand held blender

  2. Serve with traditional spaghetti pasta, or Risini/Rice pasta (easy for little ones)
